Hemispherectomy Stories

Several parents of children who have undergone a hemispherectomy have volunteered to share their stories with us. These stories are not representative of all outcomes of this type of surgery. Please consult your child's physician for information and possible surgical outcomes specific to your child. The information contained in this Children's Hemiplegia and Stroke Association (CHASA) Web site is not a substitute for medical advice or treatment, and CHASA recommends consultation with your doctor or health care professional.

Jennifer's Hemispherectomy Story - Jennifer had surgery a few months ago. Her mom asked me to share that Jennifer had a stroke during surgery and now has triplegia. The family reports that her seizures have changed, but she is not seizure free at this time. Her family hopes to share her story with us in the future.
