CHASA is assisting several researchers in gathering information that may contribute to scientific and medical knowledge.  CHASA does not endorse these studies, but simply provides this information as a courtesy to parents and researchers.  If you are interested in listing a study on this page, please read the research guidelines.

Database for Stroke in Infants and Children:  National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.  This multi-center collaborative study will establish a database of information about stroke in infants and children. Children 0 to 18 years of age who: 1) have had an ischemic stroke after January 1, 2003; 2) have a history of spastic hemiplegic or quadriplegic cerebral palsy and X-ray evidence of ischemic stroke after January 1, 2003; or 3) are diagnosed with ischemic stroke defined by a new focal neurologic deficit lasting 24 hours or more and presumed due to vessel obstruction or narrowing may be eligible to participate this study.  Locations:  University of California; Los Angela, CA;  Mt Sinai Medical Center, New York; Wake Forest University, NC; Children's Hospital of Philadelphia; Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc, Belgium; Hospital For Sick Children Research Institute, Toronto; Institute of Child Health, UK.

Study of Outcome of Childhood Stroke:  Seeking participants between the ages of 1 month and 16 years who have had a stroke after the start date of the study, July 1, 2008. You must live in the area of England covered by the study. Email:  contact@childstroke.org.uk

Robotic Assisted Therapy for children with Hemiparetic Cerebral Palsy or Spasticity from Brain Injury, Blythedale Children's Hospital in New York. Childhood Stroke Study at the University of Chicago:  Seeking people between the ages of 9-30 years old who experienced a stroke before age 13. Walking Study for CP Subjects with AFO
This study involves an evaluation of your child's walking an energy expenditure with and without your brace (AFO). Compensation may be provided for participation.Children under the age of 18 who have cerebral palsy and currently wear a brace and feel that brace is helping them to walk.
