who we help

 

The children who are served by CHASA may have some or all of the following conditions:

  • hemiplegia:  paralysis of one side of the body

  • hemiparesis: partial paralysis of one side of the body

  • stroke: many of the children have hemipareis or hemiplegia due to an early infarct

  • seizure disorder or epilepsy as a result of the early brain injury

  • speech, language, and/or feeding problems

  • learning differences, mental challenges

  • happy, grumpy, excited, sad, frustrated, smart, adaptive, caring, loving kids

We refer parents to the Hemi-Kids online support group which consists of the following members:

  • parents of children with hemiplegia, hemiparesis, childhood stroke

  • adults who have had hemiplegia or hemiparesis since childhood

  • caregivers and teachers of children with hemiplegia
