Raise Funds Online

You can set up your own fundraising and awareness page online at Firstgiving and raise money to help the Children’s Hemiplegia and Stroke Association (CHASA) continue with programs that help our little stroke and hemiplegia survivors through support, education, awareness, and research. You can set up a page on Firstgiving and share information about our cause, tell your child’s story and even add photos if you’d like. It’s fast, easy, and donations are secure.

Getting Started

  • Go to:  http://www.Firstgiving.com/CHASA
  • Click on “Create a Fundraising Page”
  • Select your event
  • Enter your email address and click “I’m new to this site”
  • Enter requested information and submit
  • Choose a web address for your page, click “create my page”

Edit Your Page

  • You can set a Fundraising Goal (target), add your child’s story, upload a photo, and add a caption to the photo
  • In the blue bar near the bottom, you can choose how much information you want to display, regarding your donor’s name, date of donation, amount, and any comments that they leave
  • If you’re also fundraising offline, you can add those totals into the “amount raised offline”
  • You can write a personal thank you note that will be emailed to your donors
  • You can check the little box next to “send me a confirmation” so that you’re notified whenever anyone makes a donation in honor of your child
  • Once your page has been set up, you can simply add a story and photo or do more :  add images from Flickr, add a YouTube video, add tags to your page

Share Your Page With Others

After you’ve created your page, you’ll want to let the world know about it and there are several ways to do this:

  • Send a personal note to your friends and family using your own email (recommended)
  • We do not recommend that you use the “Email Your Friends” feature on the Firstgiving site
  • Under the Fundraising Page tab you can add your page to Facebook by selecting that choice
  • Under the Fundraising Page tab you will also find “Add a Widget” and there are several choices of widgets and badges

If You Already Have a Firstgiving Page

  • You may leave your page “as is” and continue to ask for donations
  • If you’d like to hide old donations, you can log in and go to “Your Donations” tab.  Then, you can change the date so that donations between specific dates can be viewed
  • You may update your story and/or photo
  • Or, you may create a new fundraising page
  • Pick a date each year, maybe your child’s birthday or anniversary of some special achievement, and share your page with your friends and family. They want to help our little survivors and they can also help spread the word about pediatric stroke and hemiplegia by forwarding your link to their friends along with information you can provide about pediatric stroke.
